Bikeability cycle training equips children with vital life skills. Pupils not only learn to cycle, they gain independence, social skills and a sense of wellbeing.

After Bikeability, children are better at responding to risk and report increased confidence. As a result, more children cycle to school which in turn improves mental health and wellbeing. This allows children to get more out of the classroom, improving their attention span and engagement. Healthier habits lead to increased attendance and improved academic results. Bikeability goes beyond a training course; it impacts children’s lives.

The Department for Transport funds Bikeability cycle training for schools. The Bikeability Trust distributes this funding across England to local authorities. However, not all schools currently receive funding – if you don’t, but you want to, get in touch with your local authority.”

We understand that sometimes teachers would prefer to have an outside expert deliver First Aid instruction to their children. First Aid Workshops for your pupils delivered using the interactive animated programme.

The workshops are child-centred and the content is specifically designed to teach First Aid skills in a fun and interactive way. Our four little characters, called the Resus Rangers, will take your children on a journey led by the Resus Ranger Leader. This includes ‘Teddy Resus’, games, songs and rhymes to help learn these important skills.

Our First Aid Workshops are ideal for across school. We can deliver a combination of workshops and shorter assemblies for younger year groups, working flexibly around your timetable.

Teeth Team is a nationally recognised child dental health improvement charity that includes school-based supervised tooth brushing, fluoride varnish application, clinical dental assessments and signposting for primary and secondary dental care access.

Teeth Team was started in 2010 due to concerns about the extremely high incidence of dental decay in children in Hull and surrounding areas. As the country’s child tooth decay rates continue to grow, we feel our charity’s work has never been more important and necessary. Through a collaborative working partnership between local dental practices, schools and parents, Teeth Team actively works to improve the dental health of children across the country.

Key stage one

Children will develop their road safety knowledge through various classroom scenarios. Sessions include in-car safety for young children, emphasizing seatbelt use, appropriate car restraints and role play. Pedestrian skills training starts in the year 2 classroom and continues with a practical roadside session. Additional follow-up may be suggested.

Key stage two

Pupils engage in an interactive session with a model ramp and car to learn about car safety, including the importance of seatbelts. They also discuss the impact of poor driving behaviour on pedestrian safety. Additionally, they create a road safety campaign to raise awareness in their school. Practical pedestrian skills training includes classroom and roadside sessions, with potential follow-ups by staff.

Year 6 transition to high school

This practical lesson prepares pupils for independent journeys to secondary school, addressing key issues, decision-making, journey planning tools, hazards, distractions, and ways to overcome challenges with road safety trainers and school staff.
