Our Three Aims

Marine

Marine conservation is very important so that we can protect and save the wildlife in our oceans. Through reducing plastic, raising money for notable causes and educating our pupils, as well as the wider community, we can help to protect our oceans. We are also aiming to take part in a beach / canal litter pick.

Active Healthy
Lifestyles

Through GORSE Gets Healthy, active playtime, PE leaders and numerous other initiatives, we are promoting healthy and active lifestyles amongst all of our school community.

Waste

To prevent waste, we are committed to reducing the amount of paper, materials and food waste as we can. In addition to this, we are determined to lower our energy and heating costs through support form energy sparks.

At Hillcrest Academy our aim is to become more environmentally sustainable to help protect our community and prevent climate change from getting worse. With our partnerships with Eco-Schools, Energy Sparks and the wider Gorse Academies Trust, we are pledging to create a more sustainable and less wasteful future for all. Our Green GORSE Ambassadors have selected three areas that we are going to work on to achieve this; waste and recycling, active healthy lifestyles and school grounds and community.

Eco Schools

The Eco-Schools programme is to unite young people to make changes and positive impacts to our planet. Pupils will have the privilege to learn about impactful environmental actions in order to make a difference in their school and local community.

Energy sparks logo

Energy Sparks

Energy Sparks helps schools become more energy efficient and help to fight climate change. The programme is designed to help schools reduce their electricity, gas usage and carbon emissions through smart meter data analysis to help in addressing the climate emergency.

Our progress so far

Marine Active healthy lifestyles Waste
