On Friday 4th March 2016, Fabian Hamilton, Labour MP for Leeds North East, was honoured and delighted to accept an invitation to visit Hillcrest Academy in Cowper Street that had been extended to him by Mark Randall, School Principal. Fabian always tries to visit the schools in his constituency. This occasion was a special delight as Fabian was able to see, at first hand, the many improvements to the ethos and provision at the school following it becoming part of the Gorse Academies Trust.

Fabian was welcomed to the school by Councillor Peter Gruen who has chaired the governing body at the school for some twenty years and Principal Mr Mark Randall.

Fabian started his visit by speaking to all children in the school at their Friday morning ‘achievement’ assembly where he presented awards to class members who had made very good progress, Fabian then began a tour of the school in the capable hands of senior members of the School Council from Year 6.
